Contrat d'Axe and the Contrat d'Ilot (CACI)

A new urban renovation policy instrument

On Thursday 27 January 2022, the Brussels government approved the implementation of a new urban renovation policy instrument, i.e. the Contrat d'Axe and the Contrat d'Ilot (CACI - Street and Block Contract). This unique instrument will be deployed on a very local scale (one or two blocks, or one street) in specific areas that have been overlooked by the general urban policies.

In 2022 and 2023, two such contracts worth 10,000,000 euros each will be implemented during a testing phase.

The 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region will have three months to send in their application file as well as their preferred citizen's participation model for the CACI to Urban.
