Urban was invited to take part in the second phase of the project ‘Sustainable rebuilding of Ukrainian Cities’, an initiative of Eurocities in cooperation with the Association of Ukrainian Cities as part of the European recovery plan for Ukraine.
The first phase of the project resulted in the publication of a toolkit presenting Ukrainian cities with a series of best practices from other European cities.
On the basis of these initial results, the second phase of the project was launched: five Ukrainian cities were partnered with European city regions, which shared their expertise in order to prepare local recovery plans, development strategies and investment proposals in line with the objectives of the European Union.
Over the past few months, Urban has worked for the Brussels-Capital Region with, among others, Espoo (FI), Solna (SE), Lviv (UA) and Utrecht (NL) to draw up a master plan for Kryvyi Rih, the native city of President Zelensky. This plan will aim to boost the city's sustainable urban development in the short, medium and long term, taking into account its local context and the efficient use of existing resources.
