From 1 January to 30 June 2024, Belgium holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Policy competences are assigned to the federal, regional and community authorities. The Brussels-Capital Region will chair the ‘Environment’ and ‘Urban Policy’ Councils.
‘Urban Policy’ is coordinated by Minister-President Rudi Vervoort, Secretary of State Ans Persoons and perspective.brussels, in close collaboration with the Brussels-Capital Region's Permanent Representation to the EU, Brussels International and urban.brussels.
In this way, during the Belgian Presidency, urban is making a substantial contribution to the official events on this topic and to the Brussels Declaration "A European urban policy fit for the future" for the large cities and regions.
Urban is also organising three events as part of the Brussels Region's cultural programme:
- the immersive exhibition 'Stoclet 1911 Restitution'
- a seminar on 'Urban archaeology and the cities of tomorrow'
- the exhibition 'New Ways of Living'
