Pascale Marthine Tayou

is an artist born in 1966 in Cameroon, currently based in Ghent. He explores various media, such as sculpture, installations, video and drawing. His work is characterised by the use of recycled materials and bright colours, addressing themes such as identity, globalisation and post-colonial legacies.

His work POLYLOGUE – LONG PLAY in the Parc du Cinquantenaire represents a large vinyl record that symbolises a multi-voiced dialogue, a history remix, just like the Parc du Cinquantenaire has become: a vibrant place with a fruitful confrontation between past, present and future.

Citizens and park users are invited to make this work their own, to sit and chat there or even to use it as an artistic stage.
