The Art Deco Year 2025 was honoured with the “Brussels Best Co-creation Award” at the visit.brussels Awards. This distinction recognises a programme that brought together numerous partners around a shared goal: enabling as many people as possible to (re)discover the richness of Brussels’ Art Deco heritage.

Organised by Urban, visit.brussels and their many partners from the cultural, heritage, tourism and non-profit sectors, Art Deco Year 2025 offered a varied programme throughout the year, celebrating this artistic and architectural movement that is emblematic of our capital.

Recognition of a collective effort

The “Brussels Best Co-creation Award” recognises initiatives that successfully bring together a broad network of stakeholders around a shared project.

This award honours an exceptional collective effort and marks the culmination of a remarkable year for Art Deco in Brussels.

Thanks to the commitment of dozens of institutions, associations, property owners, guides, researchers and enthusiasts, over 760,000 visitors were able to discover the Region’s Art Deco treasures through 26 exhibitions, over 1,000 guided tours, around 50 events, several publications and the 37th edition of the Heritage Days, which alone attracted over 50,000 visitors.

Urban would like to extend its warmest thanks to all the partners who contributed to this project, as well as to the thousands of visitors who helped make it a success.

To extend the Art Deco Experience

While the Art Deco Year 2025 has come to an end, a range of resources remains available to explore this exceptional heritage.

FOCUS ON ART DECO

Throughout the year, Urban published eight themed FOCUS features highlighting the many aspects of Brussels’ Art Deco heritage. The eight issues explore this movement in all its diversity, from cinemas to gardens, from glass to fashion, and from landmark ensembles to the details of everyday heritage.

Brussels Heritage magazine no. 40: “Art Deco, Resolutely Modern”

To round off the programme, Urban also dedicated a special issue of its “Brussels Heritage” magazine to this theme.

This publication, “Art Deco, Resolutely Modern”, highlights the close link between this style and the wave of renewal that passed through society during the interwar period. Its contributions explore topics such as changing lifestyles and the role of women in the architectural profession.
