Transitional system for current grant 2021/2022

If you submitted an application for a Housing Renovation and Façade Enhancement Grant before the works before 31 December 2021, and were planning to supplement it with an application for an Energy Grant after the works in 2022, in principle, this will no longer be possible since the new RENOLUTION Grant scheme will apply from 1 January 2022

To remedy this situation and allow you to benefit fully from the grants, the Region has set up a transitional system.

There are two possible solutions:

  • Cancel your application for Housing Renovation and Façade Enhancement Grants submitted before 31 December 2021 and reapply for a RENOLUTION GRANT. In this case, simply send a letter by post to Urban (Urban Renewal Directorate - Mont des Arts 10-13, B-1000 Brussels) indicating that you wish to cancel your application. You can then submit a new 2022 RENOLUTION Grant application. This application can only be submitted for balance invoices issued from 2022 onwards and always within 12 months from the date of this last balance invoice for works.

If you were granted a financial advance by Urban before the work was completed, you will have to pay this back in full, all at once and without a repayment plan.

  • Retain your application for the Housing Renovation and Façade Enhancement Grant submitted before 31 December 2021 and supplement it with an application for the 2021 Energy Grant In this case, your application will be processed under the system in effect in 2021. To allow you to benefit from an Energy Grant supplement, the 2021 Energy Grant scheme will be maintained in 2022. Thus, for a balance invoice for works dated 2022, you can submit your grant application to Brussels Environment.

However, this application must be submitted by 31 December 2022 at the latest and will be processed according to the eligibility conditions of the 2021 Energy Grants.

The 2021 Energy Grant scheme for balance invoices for works issued in 2021 does not change and remains in effect. You have 12 months from the date of this last balance invoice to submit your request to Brussels Environment.

For the Housing Renovation and Façade Enhancement Grants scheme, the documents to be provided (additional documents requested by the administration, documents of completion of work, etc.) can be sent to us: either by dropping them off at Urban's reception, every working day from 10am to 12pm, or by post Urban (Urban Renewal Directorate - Mont des Arts 10-13, B-1000 Brussels).
